  • Hello everyone! My cousin Dhyana got married last evening! It was a gorgeous wedding – looked like something from InStyle magazine .. as you can tell from the pictures. She’s the type of person who’s very elegant, but also has an artistic flair.

My 2 sisters had the honor of being bridesmaids. I won’t go into all the loot they scored, but let’s just say Dhyana is very generous. Even little Zachary (who did not contribute to the wedding except for hooting during the ceremony) got a stuffed teddy bear.

Her brother escorting her mom. Dhyana and her dad. And finally the happy couple.

The view was beautiful and the weather was really nice too. Here are some pictures of the Han family. Rumor has it that Gregory and his girlfriend were talking about wedding and baby timelines. (She was SO good with Zachary too…)Will there be another reunion next year?   Remember – you heard it here first!

There was a red silk cloth to sign. Her wedding was very personalized to include Chinese traditions. They also named the tables after movies since they work in the film industry.

The cake was very rich chocolate and delicious … not to mention incredible looking. Zach just had milk, and YES, he is taking a bottle! Finally!

James and me. Uncle #3′s three sons. Aren’t they handsome young men? Very strapping, if I do say so myself.

The food was excellent – there was chicken, beef, salmon, pasta, vegetables in pastry (my favorite), chocolate strawberries, a gourmet salad, and more. I had two plates full of food. Dhyana changed into 3 outfits – of course, every single one looks incredible on her. She has the perfect figure – my sisters and I talked about how jealous we were, as we stuffed our faces.

Picture of our table – the younger cousins. And the conga line. Someone asked the DJ to play “Baby Got Back.” This also happened at cousin Pat’s wedding a few years ago. It has become a family tradition, although that song did not make an appearance at my wedding last year. Which makes me a suspect, but I swear I did not request that song at any wedding.

We had a great time! Thank you Dhyana and Donald! Congratulations and have a wonderful honeymoon in Italy!

  • Yesterday we went to San Francisco to attend my cousin Dhyana’s rehearsal dinner. She’s getting married today! It was a wonderful (delicious) Chinese banquet hosted by her mom, It was great to see all the Han family together again. My parents couldn’t make it, so I am posting a ton of pictures for them to see.

It was the first time Zachary met his great-grandmother! They were so excited to see each other.

He was passed around the table. Zachary was the newest member of the Han family.

My grandmother gave a speech (translated by Uncle Pei-Ping), as did the host, my Aunt Helena. Donald was an excellent MC – I wish I had him for my wedding last year! Here’s a picture of the my cousin, my two sisters, and me. I really shouldn’t stand next to people with such perfect figures…

Zachary meets his Great-Aunt Eileen. And finally a pictrues of the happy couple – cousin Dhyana and her fiance Donald. By tonight they will be husband and wife!

    Zachary meets  more relatives ….

Good thing Zachary learned how to grab. As soon as the bright red enevelopes came out, he snatched them. It would be considered rude, except he’s just 5 months old so everyone praised him for knowing the value of money ,,, until he stuck the envelopes in his mouth!

  • Here are some pictures from Monday’s babygroup, and a beautiful wedding we attended last weekend in San Francisco. Zachary was so fussy at the wedding. I got tons of compliments on the dress I wore, but then I ripped the back while nursing in the car (awkward position) and the top didn’t fit as well (thanks to the nursing … I think I went down a size or two!). It was my sister’s new dress, and she rejected my sewing job so I have to get it to a tailor now. Bleech.

I have to ask those of you with babies. I used to carry nice bags – Coach, Kate Spade, Louis Vuitton, and Dooney. The past 5 months, I’ve been carrying the cheap Similac bag they give you free at the hospital. It was okay at first (I was too tired to care), but now I just feel sloppy. Any recommendations? It can’t be too girly because my husband is taking 3 months off to care for the baby when I go back to work …he doesn’t want to carry a flowery bag. I also don’t want to spend $1000, so the one below is out.

  • You know how I post picture of Zachary smiling and laughing? Okay, I haven’t been telling the whole story. He is starting to lose patience with me when I take pictures. I have a digital camera and sometimes it takes 10 tries to get the right shot. Similar to the men most closely related to him (my dad and husband), Zachary has no patience for pictures:

This is my youngest sister. Those who have younger sisters know – they always try to copy other people.

Zach has a new bad habit. When my sisters and I were younger, we’d say “My baby will EAT your baby.” I don’t know why – I guess it was funny then. (I’m sure I started saying it first and my sisters copied.)  Anyway, it’s not so funny now. I think I am going to get kicked out of a few playgroups. (Don’t those other babies look stunned? )

Finallly some good news! My parents are going to visit during Thanksgiving. They haven’t seen Zachary since he was 2 months old.  Yayyyyy!

  • A few things to report this week. The first is good news – I am back to my pre-pregnancy weight (which is 130 pounds on the home scale.) The next news is that Zachary had his first accident. He was sitting on the potty while I was running a bath for him. All of a sudden – CRASH! He fell face first onto the bathroom floor. We decided no more potty until he can sit well with his feet reaching the ground.

    Splish-splash. He LOVES bath time!

No teeth yet, but he is starting the gnaw his hand, my shoulder, burp cloths etc. He’d grab my arm or leg and start “biting” it with fury, like a caveman. My bet is that teeth will start coming in the next month … month 6, if not earlier.

  • Here are just some more pictures I think are cute. At this week’s mom group, we made hand and footprints of our babies. Messy!

Here is a blast from the past. These pictuRes were taken just 4-5 months ago. It seemed like forever – he has changed SO much. Is it bad to say I want him to stay a baby?

  • Happy 5 months to Zachary!

This weekend, we went swimming at a friend’s house. We also had some friends over for a BBQ at our place.

Now, this is probably something only a mother could get excited about. I have 2 friends that had their babies potty trained by 18 months (both girls.) They said that they could read their babies’ cues, and predict when she needed to sit on the potty. Both of them started this ‘training’ when the babies were able to keep dry overnight. Well. Zachary has been dry overnight since he was 3 months old. He doesn’t seem to pee in his sleep. So after his morning nap, I took him to the bathroom, and plopped him down on the potty …

    We saved a diaper!

  • I am so bummed. I wanted this fish costume for Zachary this Halloween – it was the perfect costume. It was on estyle.com and for only $20. I decided today I was just going to buy it even thought Halloween is about 2 months away. IT WAS SOLD OUT in his size (6-12 months.) I checked on eBay and it was going for $50-$70. I am so mad I didn’t buy it when I first saw it.

  • Another fun week! Went to a bridal shower in San Francisco and visited a friend (who has a hot tub!) in the Bay Area. Two mom group and two scrapbooking get-togethers, plus dinner at a friend’s house, where I’ll help her with wedding favors. I’m definately getting more busy – which is good, but it makes the time FLY by.

Zachary is so big already – 4 months is definately my favorite month so far. He is robust and sleeps well. He laughs and interacts with me, but is still a cuddly baby. Doesn’t he look so gentle playing with the cardinal? But, yes, he does cry too. Sometimes even with real tears!
