Month: July 2005

  • Here are some pictures of my family’s visit. My parents stayed for the entire week, while my sisters and their boyfriends came for the weekend. I hadn’t seen one of my sisters in a long time because she was in Singapore (business) for 3 months. She brought back some Chinese books and a DVD for Zachary. We ended the visit with an had an all-you-can-eat sushi feast and a BBQ! .

Last Friday, Zachary went in for his 15 month check-up. He’s a little guy  … 31″ (40%) and 21 lbs (5%.) And he still doesn’t say a single word. I hope there are girls out there who like short, mute boys!

We are packing and getting ready to move. By next week, I hope to have our current house listed (for rent.). On a sad note, my friend Carol’s father passed away this week (cancer). The memorial is a celebration of his life rather than a mourning of his death - he requested people wear colorful clothing. Carol is planting a memorial garden in honor of her father in her backyard. I think it is a wonderful idea.

  • What a busy and fun weekend! We started the weekend early by flying to Seattle for my cousin Jerry’s wedding. My parents (from the east coast) met us at the airport, as their flight landed just a few minutes before ours. After settling into our hotel, we headed to the rehearsal dinner … delicious Thai food. I got to meet my Gannon (cousin’s son) and Duke (cousin’s husband) for the very first time!

The following morning, we went to Pike’s Place and the Space Needle.

The wedding was in a beautiful church … and the reception was conveniently located at the hotel. Unfortunately, I had another episode of food poisoning and missed most of the reception. I heard it was lots of fun though – complete with a slide show, bouquet/garter toss, money dance, a serenade, lot sof toasts, and dancing! The last James remembered, he was doing shots with the bride and groom. Congratulations Jerry and Britt! Have lots of fun on your honeymoon in Tahiti! Bora Bora is my all-time favorite place to vacation.

Here’s some unsolicited advice to those without kids … TRAVEL NOW. We couldn’t coordinate our schedule with his nap time, so Zachary was extremely fussy.

  • We just bought a new house! It is 2 miles from work, so that means we have more time with Zachary (our current commute is about 30 minutes each way.) It’s a one story (I like the look of a 2-story better), but the inside looks great. Almost the entire home has real hardwood floors. Each of the 4 bedrooms is nicely sized with big closets. A total of 2700 sq ft. Note: I will be buying clothes from the clearance racks and eating out at McDonalds the next 30 years. Oh wait. I already do that.

  • I enjoyed a nice 4 day weekend – yea! HAPPY 4th of JULY! We kicked off the weekend with a game of Settlers that lasted until 2am. (I won, although the other players seem to think I made some deviant/deceptive manuevers.) On Saturday, Zach’s friend Kaitlyn came over for a play date. Zach shoveled water onto Kaitlyn. She then took a watering can and poured water over his head. At that point, Zach got out of the pool and tried to get the hose!

For 4th of July, we had some friends over for a lunch BBQ. Zachary was miserable – I think it was too hot. He was so lethargic. I went to another BBQ that evening, but James stayed home with Zach, who had a slight fever. (Arg … he is always sick!)

Today, James went on a 45 mile bike ride, where 2 of his fingers went numb. I stayed home with Zach (still sick and sleepy) while I watched Sex in the City. Season 6 part 1 … I still need part 2. Luckily, my birthday is coming up… hint, hint!  Tomorrow my baby will be 15 months … and the day after that, my sister will be 28! A spring chicken and a chicklette.
