  • The Cabbage Patch arrived. It looks nothing like the advertisement. It has black curly hair instead of brown - and instead of the hole for the pacifier, the doll has teeth. But once I got it, I didn't have the heart to return it. Plus it's very useful for getting Zachary to do things. For example, Zach won't brush his teeth (hand covering mouth) - until I turn my back on him and start brushing the doll's teeth. And then, Zach comes running to me with his mouth open.

Friday after work, we went to a coworker's house for dinner. He (and his wife) made homemade pasta. Apparently not all pasta comes in cardboard boxes.

Saturday morning , we picked up a Little Tykes play structure/slide for $15 from a craigslister. I'm glad I didn't spend $100+ on a new one because so far, it's mostly trains and frogs going down the slide. Right after, I met up with 3 of my mom friends (and their toddlers) at the Jumping Jacks gym open house. The kids got to run around and jump on trampolines and throw balls etc. - which was perfect because it was rainy outside. That night Dana/Dave came over to play Seafarers - I lost miserably.

Today (Sunday) we took Zach to the Folsom zoo. It's actually a sanctuary for animals that can no longer survive the wild. They had animals like chickens, bears, tigers, wolves, cats, raccoons, ferrets, cats ... kind of a mix of pet store, farm, backyard, and zoo. Later, we went to Dana/Dave's house for pizza and games. I took Zach home early since I have to work tomorrow - James stayed to play games since he's taking tomorrow off (daycare is closed for MLK day). I might try to sneak out early - I'm hosting book club tomorrow evening.

Aside from a hair cutting fiasco, Zachary was on such great behavior this weekend. He even played independently a few hours - which is extremely rare for him.

  • You really scraped the bottom of the barrel with that picture from the zoo.

  • That cabbage patch kid is U-G-L-Y. Makes your kid look cuter when side by side.

  • Your son looks VERY well hung in that picture where he is hugging the frog.

  • He's so big!  I'd send you Gannon's worn out 12-18 months clothes, but it looks like he's going to outgrow those before you get them!  And how do you find the time to do so much?????  Duke and I have already decided to not have any more kids - this one alone is making us soooooo tired, and we don't have half as much activities as you guys do!  Tell me the secret!  Is it Red Bull or Red Bull & vodka?????
