  • Last Friday, we celebrated James' 34th birthday by going out for dinner after work. Happy 34th Birthday James! The next day I hosted a Chinese New Year party and invited some friends over. Happy Chinese New Years, everyone! My sisters, their boyfriends, and cousin Benny also drove up. It was pretty casual; we had some pastries (thanks to Sophie), cookies, and tea. People just came over and hung out, and there was a game or two of Settlers and Apples to Apples.

Of course, Zachary loved all the attention he got. And he loved the flashcards Alice bought for him since it fed his obsession for letters and numbers. For dinner, we had hot pot. We were supposed to also have 2 ducks, but my sister struck out at 2 Chinese grocery stores and I was feeling very tired, so I didn't try checking out the stores in Sacramento. So ... after hot pot, we ordered pizza. Whoops. I don't think they'll be coming back again...

The next few days were miserable. James' caught Zachary's stomach flu. Then I started a low grade fever and a horrible sore throat. I actually went to the doctor to check if it was strep - it wasn't, but my ear canals were inflamed. Topping it off, I was really busy at work, so it was hard to relax at home - I kept logging on and trying to work from home.

This weekend, I am finally feeling better, but now I have a terrible cough. In the morning, we went to the mall to get pictures taken for Valentine's Day cards. Afterwards we walked around a bit (I bought a black jacket at Ann Taylor for almost 75% off) and let Zach run around the playground. Tonight, James is going to Dana's 35th birthday party.. Happy 35th Birthday Dana!

New words list: "tee" for teeth, "shee" for sheep, and "sick". He also says the letters TZCI and the numbers 4,8. Oh. And I got a bonus at work. I think I will buy Zach some puzzles - he loves to put together interlocking puzzles.
