Month: January 2007

  • Hi everyone. It’s been awhile! That means I get to recap 3 weeks. So… starting with 3 weekends ago … we took Zachary skiing again since it was such a hit last year. His friends came along too – they did well, especially for their first time! Unfortunately, it wasn’t such a fun experience for Zachary this year. He was particular about where he wanted to go and incredibly frustrated/fussy. After lunch, I went skiing myself, leaving James with the diablo. Despite being at a dinky ski resort (Soda Springs) I was challenged by their “black diamonds” (would be blues at any other resort.) I haven’t’ skied since before was pregnant with Zachary. The biggest bummer was that my new (and pretty pricey) ski boots were a tad too tight.

The weekend after, my sisters came up from the Bay Area. They were in Spain for Christmas week, so we celebrated the holidays mid-January. We exchanged gifts, went shopping (for literally hours and hours), and played Rook (also literally hours and hours). I think Zachary finally gets the gift opening concept. Books need to be opened last though, since he always wants us to read them right away.

This past weekend,  Dana/Dave invited us to dinner at a European buffet. It was so good – they had regular buffet comfort food (salads, roasts, pastas), but also Russian dishes! The ambiance was nice too – reminded me of Vegas buffets, classier than say Sizzlers. After dinner, we played Settlers at their house, where I lost terribly. On Sunday, went to a playgroup at a park. It was so windy, but Zachary had a blast running around outside, trying to keep up with the older boys.

Last, but most important. I hosted a book club at my house this past Monday, where there was a very special announcement …. Yes, it’s true! After 6 years and 2 rounds of IVF … we have a mid-July due date. I am so excited for them - Congratulations Dana and Dave!

  • Happy New Years! Kicking off the weekend, James finished building Zachary’s play structure. I love swinging outside with him. We swing and sing the ABCs, Jingle Bells, plus a few Chinese songs (lots of mumbling). It’s a bit muddy (no bark yet), but the playground is officially open!

That evening, we had Dana/Dave and her parents over for dinner. On New Year’s Eve, we went to John and Kathy’s karoke party -the highlight would have to either be the appetizers or the topless dancer (sorry no pictures!) As one of the few non-pregnant women at the event, I helped myself to an extra serving of Godiva liqueur. Since we had Monday off (and Zachary gets so bored during long weekends when we stay in), Andrew and Hannah came over for a play date. Right after they left, Zach’s friends Vivaugh and Gaurav (who just got back from a 3 month trip to India) came over. Zachary is so much happier and less whiny when there are other kids in our home!

The bad news is that I am starting off the new year SICK. Somehow I caught a cold – and Zachary’s fine, so I can’t even blame daycare.
