  • Last Saturday was so busy! I took Zachary to his daycare open house. There were so many rooms set up with art and science projects … plus there was a bounce house outside and free Jamba Juice! After that, we went to Color Me Mine for storytime (Miss Spider’s Tea Party), pottery painting, and pizza.

At around noon, we went back home to pick up James and Calie and headed over to Jessica’s house for a playdate. We had a lovely lunch and made cupcakes! Zachary loved playing with these tiny plastic beads that you iron together (what the heck is that toy called?!) Sunday, we went out for lunch at Maui Tacos (and Coldstone ) and played miniature golf.

Friday (4/24), Zachary had his 5-yr physical. Height is 41.25″ (17%ile) and weight is 37.75 lbs (25%ile). Everything was normal and he did not have any shots!  Also during the week, Calie visited her new daycare class twice. During the 2nd visit, the teachers were clapping and the babies were clapping back. Calie looked stunned and confused. But the next morning, Calie started clapping! As for other gestures, she also shakes her head, open/closes fists, waves her arm, and points … but none of it on demand, and I’m pretty sure it’s random (ie. she’s not really trying to communicate). In terms of food, she’s added potatoes and pumpkin babyfood to her list.

(Probably can’t tell since the pictures are so small, but Calie has 6 teeth now. Four on top and 2 on the bottom. And yes, she bites!)

This weekend, we had a few friends over for a brunch playdate.  Afterwards Zachary and I planted a small garden in a failed flower bed (weeds overtook it, so we had to rip the whole thing out.) In the evening, we went out to Ruby Tuesdays, where Zachary tried to order a chocolate chip cookie for dinner.

Sunday, I took the kids out to take pictures and run some errands (love those double seated Costco shopping carts!). By mid-afternoon, Calie had a fever … by evening she also had diarrhea and vomiting. I’m pretty sure she caught it from visiting daycare. *Sigh* … I hope she gets over it quickly. Sick babies look so miserable.

  • Zachary is probably the busiest kid in town. No wonder he accepts bedtime with a warm embrace.

  • Calista actually looks quite mature to me in these pictures.  I wouldn’t rule out the possibility that she could be trying to communicate through gesture!
