Month: June 2004

  • Zachary HATES the bottle. He likes his milk straight from the source, which ties me down quite a bit. We have the Avent bottles, and we tried fresh milk, frozen milk, different temperatures, different size niples. Nothing works. We just bought a new bottle – the Playtex Premium nurser. Hoping maybe that brand will work. I don’t even want to talk about how much I’ve spent on bottles.

This is what Zachary has to say about bottle feeding:

  • Baby Zachary had a dinner party in his honor to introduce him to some close friends and family members in the Bay Area!

Attendees: Aunt Helena, Couins Dhyana (with fiance Donald), Ricky, Dave, Benny (with girlfriend Christine), Spencer. Sisters Alice and Sophia. Friends Craig and Paolo (with wife Elisabeth.) And of course me, my husband, and baby Zachary!

Here are some of his favorite past times. Walking (assisted of course!), being read to, and making funny faces. He’s a fat baby, but his legs are suprisingly strong.

  • New play group! We plan to meet every other week.

Back row: Allen (2)  and Zachary (3)

Front row: Christopher (6 weeks), Alex (4 months), Zachary (2.5 months)

All the babies except the blond Zachary are half Asian! My Zachary is 15 lbs now – getting heavy to carry around the house!

  • I am the mother of a giant baby. I went to a Mom’s group today and met a whole bunch of new moms. We all went around and said our baby’s age. When I said “2 months, 1 week”, I swear I heard stifled gasps. Does he really look that big? I weighed him, and he was a little over 14 lbs. I think his abundance of hair makes him appear older. It didn’t help that the lady next to me had an 11 lb 4 month old.

Here is the giant baby playing with a Jumperoo:

He has some new friends. Christopher and Will. Guess the race/ethnicity of each baby. If you already know Zach’s, tell me what you would have guessed if you did not know!:

  •  Hello everyone! I am back in California. We just went on a week vacation to the east coast. First stop was Cape Cod – to attend a friend’s wedding. It was very nice to see so many of my college friends again.

Next stop was Maryland, to visit my parents. We also went to Washington DC.

My mom made this great feast, and we invited my high school friend (and her family) over for dinner. We also invited my cousin. The last time I saw either of them, was my wedding last year!

The trip to the east coast was great – Zachary slept the entire way. The only small incident was that he peed while my husband changed him in the tiny airplane bathroom. I was a beaming, proud mother, watching the OTHER babies scream. Well, the way back to California was another story. He spit up a lot and was awake the entire time. He was very fussy and refused the pacifier. Then on the way down on the first leg of the trip, I felt something wet. Feeces on my arm and leg – soaked right through the sweatpants I borrowed from my sister. A poo explosion! I had to change him after we landed – luckily I brought him an extra outfit. When I took off the old outfit, I got poo in his hair. It was a total disaster, but we did make it home okay.

  • This past weekend, we went to Sausalito. Our first wedding anniversary was June 1st, so we decided we needed to celebrate by getting out of the house. The original plan was to go back to Bora Bora (where we went for our honeymoon) or Figi – I just love the South Pacific – but that was before we found out about Zachary. Maybe next year!

The middle picture depicts why neither mom nor baby will be losing weight anytime soon!

The last picture (of the picnic) is actually in Berkley and not in Sausalito. We spent the weekend with my sister and her friend.
