I know I just posted, but this has been bothering me for a long time. There was one very common comment made when Zachary was a newborn. That comment was "He looks JUST like you." And I know most moms would take it as a compliment because they think their newborn is the cutest baby in the world. But I was under no such delusion - I will admit that I did not think Zachary was that cute when he was born. Anyway, in the past month or so, I've been getting two other comments from multiple people. One is "He is getting so much cuter." The other is "He is starting to look like his dad." Take those three sentences and what does it mean?

WEEK 2 - "Looks JUST like Mom" vs. MONTH 7 - "Cuter" and "Starting to look like Dad"
AAAARRGGG! People are so cruel.
(I am only kidding. I find it funny - I'm not really offended.)

I think newborn he did look just like you! 7 months he looks like a combination! Some people are just rude.
actually in the second photo, if we put a shawl over his head and squeezed his chubby body into a wedding dress, he'd kind of look like your profile picture. = )
I think in Mo. 7, he looks like a combo of you and your hubby.... He has your eye's (IMHO) and has some "hapa-ness" (Hawaiian term for mixed w/Caucasian) to him...
Yep.. Today was a Holiday... Veteran's day!! Gotta love it!!
pssh... i for one think both pics are ultra cute. You can't be cuter than ultra cute so there is no "He's cuter now."
lol! the only difference would be the eyes .. newborn tots have eyes that're almost closed .. but now they're so sparkly
dont look so much into the comments haha .. he was cute as a tot and still is cute ^-
[and thanks .. i think he has good taste too

i totally feel your pain. when Carlos first came out, everybody said he looks like me. And now that he's grown (a little) and cuter, they're saying he looks like he's dad.
mean people i say! mean! but it's ok....hehehe!
have a great weekend!
I still think he looks a lot like you...and he's cuter than ever!
Ahhh------I didn't mean to offend you.
I think you're a beautiful woman!
Zach has always been cute--just that he is starting to take after his father now.
I was just as offended when MY own mother said it's a good thing Johnathan takes after his dad. When my mom and Sam 1st saw him, they said he looked just like me, esp. my nose. Now---he's so cute and looks just like daddy. AHHHH!!!
I suck in the math and sciences, always have, always will.
Have a great weekend.
heehee, i think he still looks like u too!!
I got the opposite. They used to say he looked like his daddy and now he looks like me. I guess I should be really flattered.
I think he looks mostly like you in both pictures, but he is showing some features of his father which are becoming more apparent. He's just cute any way you look at it.
Happy seven months to Zackary! Derek will be six months on the 21st. So, they're about a month and a half apart.
I think we may have the same problem with trains over here. Al's grandfather is a huge collector and he likes to give out train sets for xmas gifts. It's funny because he has nine great-grandsons, now, and that's a perfect gift for them. I also love trains, so I don't mind. (Te,he) I'll be playing, too.
Look at that skin improvement! What's the secret? Proactiv? Birth control pills?
Zachary is just plain kute!
Regardless what people have said I still stick to the idea that he was and always has been cuuuute!! Everytime I see his picture it just makes me want to go over there and give him a great big hug!!
Hahah, I still think he looks like you, but we're now seeing a bit more of his dad in there too. I thought he was adorable when he was a newborn, and I still think he's adorable!
Also keep in mind that people feel it's appropriate to say that a baby boy is starting to look more like his daddy. It's a compliment that a boy is starting to resemble a masculine role model. Not that there's anything really "wrong" with saying that a boy is starting to look more like his mommy. But uh, if you're going to make such an observation, preferably it wouldn't be the caption underneath a naked picture of the kid.
what are people talking about? he's adorable in the first picture!! he just couldn't open his eyes! lol.
The first picture is ugly - I didn't even think it was Zachary. The second picture is very cute. You are ugly. James is a beautiful.
I think he's been a beautiful baby from day one! and he's got a very pretty mama to thank for that! He's adorable! it's really fun to watch him grow!

Sometimes people just don't think about what they are saying and how it will affect you. The other day I went to go pay my rent, and this woman in the office stood up and started making a scene over how big my stomach is. I am almost five months pregnant, and yes you can tell I'm pregnant. She was telling me I looked like I was 9 months (hardly doubt it lol), and just making all this fuss with her mouth dropped and her eyes all big. I was just so irritated...I mean she is like obese anyways and she's not even pregnant. I would never say something like that- but some people just don't think or they just don't care. I think you and your baby are beautiful, and babies aren't always the cutest when they are born. Try not to worry about it- he looks like a mix of both of you. It will be the same thing for our baby prolly- I am Italian and Jesse is a pacific islander. I hope our baby gets his asian eyes though
he does look cuter in that 2nd pic... i.e. darker eye brows, thinner lips, big brown eyes, more defined nose, more hair... just a thought
Wow he has grown so miuch in 7 months. Like the only thing that stayed the same is his nose and upper lip. =) But I think he is such a cute baby. He's gonna be a heart breaker when he gets older
i honestly don't understand how people can say babies look like their parents at all, other than in the most general of ways, in which case they could look like any white person or asian person or whatever race the parents are.
i don't think babies look like their parents and i've always had the hardest time trying to see the similarity. I mean, how many people can just go into a room full of babies and be like, yes, this one is definitely theirs, because it looks just like them? Unless your baby is a crazy mix of say quarter indian, quarter, black, quarter white, and quarter chinese, you wouldn't be able to pick him/her out of the maternity ward, yourself. They get mixed up all the time...kids grow up years later to realize they were switched at birth. (okay, okay, maybe not all the time, but in the movies and stuff.
)
The only fact that can be most truthfully established is that your baby is stronger, his skin has tightened up (and cleared up like sofichan pointed out), he's growing some muscles (tiny muscles), he's growing, forming, and becoming healthier and more beautiful. He's really cute in both pics just in different ways. In the 1st one, he's like cute in the raspy voiced, little-old-man voice being like, "hey, buddy, wuzzuuuuuuuuuuup?" And in the second one, he's just adorable in a classic Asian baby way.
