My week home with Zachary comes to an end…
(Next Monday, I start my new job) This week, Zachary and I went to Encouragym twice, visited his new daycare twice, and went to two playgroups. Not bad, considering we were home sick the beginning of this week! We also ventured out for lunch once (Olive Garden) and walked around Old Roseville in the evening. We definitely played lots at home.
Here are some Zachary tricks. He can’t talk at all, but we think he might understand what we’re saying. Consistently, when we mention the “morning commute”, he’ll get into his Little Tikes car. He’ll also turn off the lights, shut the door, and lead his dad to the glider at nighttime. (For those wondering if Zachary is super tall… no, our light switches are super low.) Today, he took out a bunch of water bottles from the cabinet. I told him in Chinese that he needed to help put them away – and he did! One by one, he gathered the bottles and put them back in the cabinet. I think it is amazing to watch children learn! He has a friend who is 12 months and can use a remote control!

Zachary looks so cute with spiked hair! lol…
You know, it would simultaneously be so incredibly exciting and yet ever so slightly disappointing if it turns out that Zachary’s first words are “morning commute.”
I guess if there’s a time to wear weird yellow garments, it’s at the age where your peers are still too innocent to make fun of you.
Do you teach Zach Chinese and does he understand a lot of it? It’ll be so cool if he spoke English and Chinese in the future! May I ask if you are mixed with any other kind of Asian or pure Chinese. My Grandfather was half Chinese so that makes me a little bit Chinese but I do not speak it. My dad understands though some ;D Welps Mienh and Chinese celebrate similar occasions like the new year.
Hey are you Chinese?! Thats so cute….gawsh
i love reading your posts!
His hair! So cute! =) I don’t think I coulc even comprehend such a big word as “morning commute” until I was much older! Same as jennimeyz, I was wondering if you were teaching Zachary English and Chinese!
he’s got mommy’s brains!
yea do u teach him chinese i was tortured a good 10+ with sunday chinese school and now i can speak decent mandarin…
how did you find the playgroups that you guys are attending? I’m thinking that since Holden (the baby!) won’t be going to daycare for a little while, it would be a good idea to get him socialized through a playgroup like you attend. Gosh, it’s weird to see your pictures each time because it seems as though he’s grown even since the last post.
Zach is so cute. I love his Robeez!
it’s AMAZING to see how much children understand. don’t forget to keep speaking chinese to zachery. their window to learn is open until like age 6… i.e their minds are like sponges until then. and they can learn a LOT of languages.
its truly amazing seeing your children understand and comprehend. Nathan hardly speaks at all. He know at least 6 English words. But if his grandparents talks to him in Vietnamese he seems to understand and if my mom talks to him in Tagalog (Filipino) he understand stands too. We think thats why he can’t really talk because of the 3 diff. languages he has to learn
Anways, cute picture of Zachary!!!
Adorable!!!
Zach looks so handsome w/his hair spiked up.
Kids understand language long before they can talk. Johnnie didn’t begin to talk until he was 2 years old(he knew a few words here and there). We took him to his doctor who recommended we take him to a specialist whom we never made an appointment to see b/c lo’ and behold a week or 2 later he began to talk and NOW…he even tattles on mommy. HAHA.
Do you speak to Zach in Chinese?
Have a great weekend.
P.S. GL at your new job.
hi…ur baby is a cutie…i usually talk to my baby girl in my native language (filipino) hoping that she will pick it up as she grows…i agree with u when u said that its fun to see ur kid learn…i wish i can just stay home and watch her all day…nways goodluck on ur new job!
Oh I love Zach’s spikey hair picture…
By the way, you’re a korean who knows how to speak chinese? I’m impressed!
Your baby is adorable!!!!!! You are so lucky!!!!!!
This is the cutest mute baby I know. I plan to visit the weekend after my first weekend home from Singapore so be ready for me. I would like some alone time with my little punk (no, not James). I will be using my first weekend adjusting to the time difference. You have 1.5 monthes to prepare for my grand arrival.
wow Zachary has the advantage of becoming bilingual! I think of babies as little scientists as they have the abilities to test out many of their own theories and stick to the one they’re most happy with.
haha….love the third picture. he has a dragonball thing going there with his hair. cute!
do you speak mandarin or cantonese? i speak cantonese fluently and can carry on a conversation in mandarin if i have to.
wow zachary can understand chinese….that is cool…i speak to ashlyn in filipino because i want her to learn the language too…we also talk to her in english…i hope she wont get confused!
That is so great that you can talk to him in Chinese! My Chinese is too Chin-glish I think – which is why we are looking at putting Gannon into an immersion school when he turns 3 to learn Mandarin. Sorry to hear you are sick…me too! The whole family was sick last week, and Gannon turned out to have an ear infection – sucks….
Hey.. It’s me again… What does your baby/toddler bargain books say about Zooper brand strollers?
