  • Zachary turned 21 months this week! Wow ... 3 more months and I'll have a 2 year old! This weekend was relaxing. Friday night, James went over to some friends house to play Settlers, while I stayed home with Zach ... Zach stayed up until 10pm.  The next morning, I held a play group at my house ... the kids loved the ride-on Thomas. One would ride while the other "pushed."

Sunday, we went to another play group (from the twins' daycare.) We met at the park - it was fun ... and we got home just in time to go out for dim sum. At dim sum, everyone used chopsticks, so Zachary asked for a pair too. He tried to use chopsticks to eat! Kids pick up so much from their surroundings.

I'd like to share my fun purchase of the week ... a $7.98 baby stroller from Walmart. Zachary loves to take his froggie out for a walk - which means I get exercise too! I highly recommend it for both girls and boys.

Here are Zachary's new words for the week: "tee" for three, "se-tze" for lion, "uh" for up, "da" for down, and "gee" for James. He is now combining words ... "more" + a noun. Which is amazing to me because well, I'm his mom... but he's actually slower than most toddlers. You should see the other children younger than Zachary talk at daycare. There's a girl that can speak in full sentences. I wonder if she is irritated by all the less verbal toddlers - as in, "I've got to get out of the baby room! I can't hold a decent conversation with these kids."

And ugh. The couch I ordered in September is not in yet. And the Cabbage Patch has not arrived either. I feel like I have been swindled.

  • I have the same problem as that girl at daycare.  I know all these big vocabulary words, but no one I know can understand them, so it's kind of a waste.  So I just sit at home by myself and do GRE Verbal sections for fun.  Then when I get a good score, I celebrate by myself.  Problem solved!

  • i cannot beleive that Zachary's almost 2! i remember reading your blog when he was just 3 or 4 months old. time flies! he's still cute as ever!

oh, and Carlos (my son) has a frog that he takes everywhere too!

  • Whats the maximum weight limit on the Thomas ride-on? Umm...just wondering.

  • the make training chopsticks for kids. they're attached at the top so they kind of look like giant tweezers. that's what my baby nephew uses. you should get some for zachary. =)

  • Johnnie was a slow talker, too.

As a matter of fact, he only knew a couple of words (wah and no)until he was 2.5.

Now at the age of four and in pre-k, his teacher says he's a fast learner. Johnnie didnt know his abc's or #'s at the start of school; however, it  took him a month to catch up w/his classmates who had previous schooling.

  • That froggie looks like he has the best life.

  • Who are you trying to kid? Strollers are for girls! James, wake up! That kid looks like he's being groomed to become Mrs. Doubtfire!

  • When I see those twins in camouflage, I think of these guys:

  • don't worry about the language thing, Nathan can hardly speak full sentences at Zachs age he was still on just words and for the most part he babbles. I think it happens when kids are learning multiple languages- in my house its Tagalog and Vietnamese.

I would love to have a play group in my area but everyone around here seems to be busy!

    take care!
